花鼓舞——彝语称“热波比”，流传于楚雄彝族自治州南部山区的双柏县和峨山彝族自治一带，是一种表演性的舞蹈，一般由村子里的花鼓班子表演。表演者都是男子。在双柏县，每逢年节和办丧事时，就请花鼓班子来跳。他们说，人在世上活着高高兴兴，死后也要高高兴兴，所以办丧事要跳花鼓，相反办喜事是不能跳的。
花鼓舞由打击乐伴奏，乐器有大小钹、大小镲、大小锣。花鼓呈椭圆形，一尺二寸长，红色鼓身，用绸带系鼓，斜挂于右肩。
花鼓的表演形式，是由一位师傅手持木制龙头，龙头上插有野鸡羽毛，并用红绸扎成绣球系在上面，作为指挥。另由四人背鼓，鼓横挂在腰的左侧，左手拿白毛巾，右手持槌打鼓。打鼓动作有一定程序，每套动作都有头步和收步，动作先后顺序及图形变化均有严格规定，由持龙头的师傅用手中道具指挥。
花鼓舞的风格矫健有力、开朗豪放、开奏鲜明。舞蹈在重拍时向上弹跳，一拍击鼓一下。动作特点是小腿灵活，有不少高难度技巧，如小腿在空中划圈等。在表演花鼓舞时，因整个舞蹈都在弹跳中进行，舞者体力消耗大，故分段表演，每跳一段舞蹈先唱一段花鼓词。曲调分为玩场歌和送丧歌两种。花鼓舞由打击乐伴奏，乐器有大小钹、大小镲、大小锣。

花鼓舞表演时至少要有十一人，手持雉翎的指挥者一人，耍大刀、二节棒、水火棍、三叉戟、双刀、双钩镰的各一人，腰系花鼓的四人。舞蹈充满战斗气氛，逐一持兵器表演武艺，在队形变化上也依照战士出征的排列，如跋山涉水、摆陈设仗、短兵格斗、凯旋而归等九段。舞蹈动作豪迈粗犷，古朴大方，场面颇为壮观。据说“磨皮花鼓”来源于庆贺战争的胜利，看来是有一定道理的。

The form of the flower-drum performance is lead by a master who take a wood dragon head which insert some pheasant feather and uses red silk bind to a ball in hand to direct dance. Besides, other fours will tie the drum in the left waist, and with white towel in left hand, mallet in right hand. There are some rules in each dance, they have the regularity in fist action and the end action, during dancing, all the sequences and change of dance should according the rule, it must leaded by the master. The style of flower-drum dance is very smartly, boldly, and brightly. People dance follow the rhythm in performance, and the characteristics is flexibility, and it has some difficult techniques, just like air jump etc. Whenever dance, the dancer will consume more physical exertion, so, it will be divided to little sections, and sing a flower-drum word which divided to dancing song and funeral song before dance.
